key-key comes inside
We've decide to pull inside one of the feral cats that we've been taking care of since soon after we moved in.
Key-Key the stumpy-tailed calico, as an inside cat.
We've had her tested for diseases and she's clean, now all we have to is find a way to peacefully integrate her with the other 5 breadloaf-sized animals that we share space with.

She is a cutie. Good luck on integrating
her into the household. It can be interesting sometimes. I love the picture of her in the sink. We had a cat that LOVED sleeping in our main floor bathroom sink.

I am so glad you were given the all clear and I hope she integrates well.
She is a lucky (albeit cute!) kitty!

is it true calico cats have three chromosomes and can't reproduce? or is this an urban legend? in any case, go key key, you are one lucky (and beautemous!) grrrrl.

What a beautiful cat. Strays make the best pets.

Note to purejuice: Believe me, calico cats can reproduce. What you may be thinking of is tri-color cats are almost never male. Evidently it's not impossible, just extremely rare. What calico and tortoise kitties (tri color, no white) DO have is CATITUDE!
Wonderful sassy girls.
I stumbled across this website while perusing listings for sale. My sister and I live on the Outer Banks and will likely be relocating. Found a big victorian on Lamb Ave. and would love to know more about the neighborhood from people living there. Love the comment that Barton Heights looks great during the day...

Sure, Calico cats (black orange and white) can breed (mine had a litter of 4 kittins). They ARE however, almost never male. Ditto for Tortoise Shell cats (black and orange, no white). See here if you really want to know more about cat color genetics.

Is key-key a true feral? Does it accept affection, or allow you to come near it? Or is it merely a stray, with some socialization?

key-key was born under the house to a feral momma cat that disapeared after a while. So she was a true feral, we have plenty around here, but we got to her pretty early. Ronni started feeding the kittens and so they eventually let her pet them and then sometimes pick them up. Not much has changed now that she's in the house -- Ronni occasionally gets some calico love, not me.

Key Key went "wee wee" in the house because she was marking it...has she been fixed? that should fix the problem!

Yeha, she was fixed way back when. We caught and fixed here and her siblings as soon as they were old enough.
I think that she was like, "eff you guys, let me go back outside!".
