another trip to Caravati's
We made a trip to Caravati's to get some filler floor boards.
Newly scavenged floorboards from Caravati's.
Towards getting the floors downstairs ready to be refinished, we've got to repair the the holes where the vents used to be back when the ductwork ran under the house. This stupid ductwork is still under there, just not hooked up to anything. Getting that out from under is project for another day far far down the line... We've got 5 or 6 vent holes to approximately match.
Caravati's can be expensive, but has been good to us. This time around we picked up a few feet of tongue&groove floor board of the same thickness as the current flooring, though we didn't try very hard to match the specific widths. With out this being a much larger project than we are up for, the patches will not match up the lines of the current floor boards but so well.
Corks plug holes where wires once ran.
Along with our cork plugs for the holes that had been drilled, these patches will be apparent as patches. We see this more as a nod to the history of the house rather than as a flaw; if we approached this otherwise we'd probably go insane.
