we WILL have walls
We're taking the last steps towards getting most of the downstairs ready for drywall -- insulating, getting installation quotes, some last minute carpentry...
We've got three big goals for the next 6 weeks -- finish painting outside, get walls up downstairs, and get the downstairs bathroom together. If we pull it off or even come close, it'll be the best 6 weeks ever. Right now we're splitting out time between the inside and outside as the weather allows.
This week we've prepping the downstairs for the drywall. The area is three rooms, the foyer, and a short hallway to the kitchen. First we had to move all of the stuff that had somehow accumulated in the rooms, all of the tools and xmas trees and stuff destined for eBay and my mom's old bowling ball. The tools are now in the kitchen, everything else is stacked upstairs in a new clutter. All of the nails left from the lathe have been pulled, insulation is going in and should be finished later today, and we're waiting to hear back from the guys that we've contacted about quotes.
We've been living with these rooms as unfinished work zones for so long that it is hard to imagine them as any other kind of space. Getting this pushed to the next step will double the amount of living space for us (but we still won't have a good place to store the tools).

This web site and your renovation has been amazing to read. It's the best 'reality' show I've seen in a long time! I am moving soon to the Richmond area. Having been there a few times, the Church Hill area is amazing to me. I know it's pretty much street by street, but do you have some suggestions for areas to def. avoid? Checking out the richmond crime pages, it looks as though there is a fair # of robberies. Have you had any problems? Any input on moving to the city would be very helpful. Thanks!
