another house being renovated
We recently went on a tour of another neighborhood house undergoing renovation.
Sponsored by ACORN, the Renovator's Happy Hour is something that happens every so often to showcase ongoing projects. Other projects have included an old bank building [2] and urban infill condominiums.
The Greek Revival house was built in 1860 by James H. Peay, a local shoemaker. The house had fallen on hard times sometime in the past few decades, but looks to have been solidly restored. The project is still in process and many details hadn't been taken care of yet, but what was complete looked very nice.
500 North 29th Street, Richmond, VA circa 1965. Note the asphalt shingles already on the house next door...
The back of the house. The staggered upstairs/downstairs porches caught my eye.
Beautiful new copper roof over front porch.
The view from the upstairs porch. I'm worried for that left half of the house.
