installing a balustrade
We installed the balustrade that we bought a few weeks back. It is a dramatic change.
Our upstairs hallway took hit when the house was chopped into a duplex. The balustrade along the hall was pulled out and a wall was built to divide the upstairs and downstairs. We pulled the wall down over 2 years ago and have been living with a deadly precipice of a hall ever since.
We'd thought that getting the balustrade in place would make the hallway seem smaller, but the inverse is true -- because the edge of the hall is no longer to be feared, we have more walkable space.
In the beginning, as a wall.
Before, with missing balustrade.
And now...
The new hallway balustrade.
