at a much older house
It was beautiful yesterday, mid-70s and partly-cloudy, a great day to work on the house. We had made a prior commitment, though, so...
We got married yesterday in the gardens at the Old Stone House (built around 1754), now home to the Edgar Allen Poe Museum. It was wonderful and perfect.

Reputedly the oldest residential dwelling in Richmond, this modest house is now surrounded by the Shockoe Valley commercial district. Dendrochronology (tree ring dating) suggests that the house was built in 1754. The earliest records of the house date to 1783 in a city land tax book. Samuel Ege lived in the house and was a flour inspector.
The house features a hall and parlor plan with unevenly spaced openings and dormered gable roofs. The APVA saved the house in 1911. The small stone house is now a part of the Edgar Allen Poe Museum complex, which contains a collection of items relating to the life and work of this famous American poet and storywriter.

How lovely and appropriate for you. You are so lucky to live in such a historic area and one that values history and preservation also. My sister got married in an old home in Virginia (she lived in D.C. at the time) and it was just perfect for her smaller more intimate wedding. Congrats to you.

YES! The wedding was beautiful. I hope to vist your new house, and hope to know you better. Ronni Lynne said you were a nice guy, and you seem to be, and to also have the patience to restore an old home.

Yes, the wedding was perfect and made uniquely your own by all the attention to special details, based on your own personalities. The bride was even more beautiful than she usually is. The groom - a very handsome young man whom I'm delighted is now my son-in-law. I couldn't be happier for both of you.
P.S. - The porch and yard are looking really good, too!
