a neighborhood lifestyle
I've been offered a position at the neighborhood middle school for next year. This is good.
This is something that I've been working towards for a few years. I'll be able to walk the half-mile to work. I'll be working with local kids and directly contributing to the well-being of the neighborhood. I'll be a much more integral piece of the neighborhood fabric than 'that guy fixing up that house'. I'll be living an old-fashioned neighborhood lifestyle.

Congratulations. That is way it should be. A few years ago when I started a new job and was walking to work, everyone I worked at thought I was destitute or something. It was unimaginable that I would live and work in the same neighborhood and actually WALK to work - in America!

I live about a mile from work and ride a bike. It really cuts down on the gasoline expenses too. Keep building that sense of community.

Congratulations John. My work is about 7 miles from home and I take the car...bummer!
I do not comment here often, but I have you on my blogroll and never miss an update. It is so nice to see your house getting prettier all the time.

I started a job last August where I walk to work- no more 1 hour each way commutes downtown anymore- it is such a relief- you will love it I am sure- makes life so much simpler. Congrats!

I ride the bus, despite the extra 20 minutes it adds to my commute. I appreciate the time as an opportunity to read, people watch, ogle yards, and choreograph aerobics routines. As a bonus, I save money on gas and downtown parking!

Dude - congrats! What are you doing at the Middle School? Teaching Statistics and Discreet Math?
Great news - good for you!
