very local news across Richmond
At the end of January, based on my experience with Church Hill People’s News, I said that “there need to be more very local community-oriented blogs”. In the 10 months since then, folks all over the area have responded to the call and have put their time and energy into publishing sites for their communities.
By August there were 7 community blogs; now there are 13 including sites covering 10 Richmond areas and Chesterfield, Petersburg, and the West End of Henrico. Building upon all of this, Ross Catrow (of RVA Blogs) has pulled together the info from the neighborhood blogs into the new RVA News. That is pretty freakin’ cool.
There are still blank spaces on the map, and all of the neighborhood sites are open to your participation. If you would like to get involved, contact the site for your area or contact me if you’d like to start a site for an area that needs one.
