interesting Google Analytics graphs
2 Comments »I have 2 Google Analytics set up on 2 different web sites that ought to have a similar statistical profile, but do not. The first graph below shows the relative ups&downs of traffic on the Carver & Jackson Ward News over the course of its 4-month existence. The second shows the traffic on the Church Hill People’s News from a similar time span.
I don’ think thing that is just pareidolia in seeing a weekly cyclical pattern in the second graph. The second site has traction and a regular audience, while the first does not, and it seems likely that something about the viewing habits of the regular audience are setting shape of the cycle. It’d be interesting to the graphs for other “established” sites as a comparison.

Ross put up some numbers and they look to softly correlate my notion above. The definitely widely-established RVABlogs has a similar, if even more regular, cycle. WotBN is starting the develop the cycle, and anecdotally that site seem to be finding a more broad and regular audience.
Looks to me that most of the CHPN readers visit your site during the work week. Not as much traffic during the weekends. You could make all sorts of inferences about that. You can also see the a sharp dropoff on the 4th of July.
